REASI: The present dispensation shall make all out efforts in developing Reasi on the lines of main stream tourism abreast of existing religious tourism across the district besides laying major focus on the exploring the sites located along main roads and interior roots.
This was said by Minister for Co-operatives and Ladakh affairs, Chering Dorjay who is Chairman of District Development Board (DDB) Reasi while reviewing overall financial and physical achievements in respect of the district plan and central sponsored schemes.
He said that to develop the tourism sector means generate employment opportunities for the youth and in this regard no stone shall be left unturned by the government in bringing Reasi on the tourist map. He also called for need based development of every rural habitation of the district.
Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Information Technology, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, CAPD, Tribal Affairs, Relief and Rehabilitation and Labour and Employment Ajay Nanda, MLA Gool Arnas Ajaz Ahmed Khan, MLA Gulabgarh, Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, MLC Jugal Kishore, District Development Commissioner (DDC), Ravinder Kumar, SSP Reasi, heads of various departments and district officers were present in the meeting.
While showing concern on the non presence on some responsible officers of the DDB owning to which status of some decisions could not be reviewed, the minister instructed the DDC to take necessary action in this regard so that their due presence is to be ensured in the next meetings.
While deliberating on completion of many roads and buildings as raised by legislatures, the minister instructed the officers to expedite the works on all projects in order to facilitate big chunk of population residing in the rural pockets.
The minister directed the officers to become accountable in implementing various schemes and programmes and utilisation of funds allocated under various heads. He further asked the officers for regular field visits, tours and inspections in order to ensure smooth progress of the works.
The chairman also instructed the concerned to ensure the cent percent functioning of New Type Primary Health Centers (NTPHCs) and taking up two buildings for construction from all the three constituencies on annual basis and completion of pending works of some roads through department.
While speaking, MoS Ajay Nanda said that the government has achieved maximum progress in respect of enhancing of old age pensions, plantation, increase in migrant relief, gradual repairs transformers, exploring tourist sites and execution of other development works. Some issues highlighted by him include staffing of District Hospital Reasi, taking up of old hospital Reasi for mother and child care facilities and full implementation of all previous decisions of Borad.
Meanwhile, legislators expressed their concern on poor funding in different sectors delaying development works of roads, school and medical buildings, bridges, staff, rational eviction of locals from land, pending compensation, construction of bridges, covering all hamlets under power and water supply schemes in Mahore, Shidole, Dharmari, Thuroo, Thakrakote, Judda, Reasi, Katra, Bomag, Shajroo, Chasana, Gari, Arnas, Thilloo, Sildhar and many other villages.
Earlier, the District Development Commissioner gave power point recap of the demographic and geographic attributes of the district with financial and physical position of allocated budget. He informed that out of total approved plan of Rs. 139.83 crore, net availability was Rs. 65.23 crore and out of which Rs. 44.11 crore has been fully utilized with the expanding percentage of 68.
