Reasi lady becomes first in J&K to qualify wrestling course

JAMMU: Anuradha Sharma of Pouni in district Reasi has become first lady wrestler to successfully qualify NIS wrestling course (May June 2024) from Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports Patiala under Sports Authority of India (SAI).
Anuradha with wrestling background had earlier contributed a lot in creating awareness among girls of district Reasi to adopt wrestling sports under ‘Beti Ko Khiladi Banao’ campaign. She qualified the theory and practical part with meritorious scores and got much applaud from Professor Kalpana Sharma Director Academics SAI NS NIS Patiala.
“Anuradha is a role model for all women who are desirous to pursue sports qualification for the welfare and promotion of women wrestling across UT of J&K and definitely budding girl wrestlers will get an opportunity to be trained by qualified woman wrestling coach who will excel in wrestling sport at varied levels”, said Shiv Kumar Sharma former Joint Secretary of J&K Sports Council (JKSC) and President of Jammu Kashmir Indian Style Wrestling Association.
