VIJAYPUR : Relatives of 19-year-old girl who was allegedly gang raped by seven youths at Swankha during Baba Sidh Goria mela on 20th June, on Wednesday demanded legal action against the accused.
The victim’s family, while addressing a press conference, under the leadership of Babal Gupta Congress Distt. Vice President said the girl had come to attend the Baba Sidh Goria Mela with her fiancé, when a group of six-seven local youth kidnapped the girl and took her to nearby fields, where they gang raped her.
Relative of victim, Bal Krishan said “we lodged a complaint at Ramgarh Police Station, where the police did not conduct her medical examination even after 24-hours of the incident”.
The agitated family members alleged that the local police has done nothing to give justice to the victim and is trying to brush the incident under the carpet due to influence of families of the accused. We met IG Danish Rana and demanded immediate arrest of all the seven accused involved in the incident, he said.
The family members warned that if police fails to arrest the rest of the accused, we would force to come on roads to intensify the agitation. “A case under sections, 376, 323, 366 of the RPC has been registered and three accused have been arrested. Efforts are being made to arrest of the accused,” said a police spokesperson.
