Ranji Trophy: Odisha thrash Haryana by 7 wkts
Lahli: Odisha wobbled a bit in chase of a small target but eventually did their job as they thrashed Haryana by seven wickets in their Ranji Trophy cricket match here on Wednesday.
Resuming the day at 8/1 and needing just 31 runs for a win, Odisha lost two more wickets today but overhauled the target of 39 to walk away with full six points on the fourth and final day at the CH Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium here.
The home side got no points from the Group B match.
Haryana pacer Mohit Sharma took two wickets in the first over of the day but the paltry target meant that Odisha had few troubles on their way to a seven-wicket win.
Mohit dismissed opener Girjia Rout for a duck off the first ball of the day and then completed the over with the wicket of Odisha captain Abhilash Mallick.
The pair of Govinda Podder (13 not out) and Biplab Samantray (26 not out) took Odisha to victory in the 14th over by reaching 41 for three.
Brief Scores:
Odisha: 232 for 9 dec and 41 for 3 in 13.1 overs (Biplab Samantray 26 not out; Mohit Sharma 3/11) beat Haryana 127 and 143 by seven wickets.
