Ranjeet Kalra appointed Sports Advisor to Lakshdweep Govt

JAMMU: Ace Sports administrator and former National Cricketer Ranjeet Kalra has been appointed as Sports Advisor to the Government of Union Territory of Lakshdweep. The order in this regard was issued by the Lieutenant Governor/ Administrator of Laksdweep Farooq Khan here on Monday.
Ranjeet Kalra is a former National Cricketer and presently the Member of The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Member of the J and K State Sports Council headed by the Chief Minister.
He is currently also holding the charge of Vice Chairman of District Sports Council Jammu and is also the Member of the National BCCI Media Managers Group and has remained the Chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association Media Committee and Chairman of the J and K State Sports Council Media Cell.
He also remained the Member of the Queens National Baton Relay for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India.
He was the member of the Central Organising Committee of the Kashmir Premier League and Jammu Premier League.
Kalra with an experience of more than fifteen years in active sports and later around sixteen years in Sports administration also serves on the Management Committee of the Government of India, Sports Authority of India (SAI) Regional Centres in J and K.
In addition, Ranjeet Kalra also serves as Special Invitee on the Governing Council of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Sports Complex, Katra, J and K along with Arjuna Awardee Ashwani Nachhappa and Olympians Sanjeeva Singh and Sanresh Jang.
Kalra also remained the Government Observer of the 35th National Games of India, in Kerala.
Ranjeet Kalra has also served as Chairman of the Government Sports Council of Doda.
Kalra has won wide acclaim for recently organising the Prime Minister Narender Modi’s ‘Khelo India Games’ in J and K in his capacity of being VC Sports Council Jammu.
Ranjeet Kalra in 2015 was nominated as the Chairman of the high level State Committee with the mandate to monitor and liasion with the Union Sports Ministry, New Delhi the various Central Sports Schemes being implemented in Jammu and Kashmir.
He has also twice remained the Manager of the J and K Ranji Trophy Cricket team and served as the Member of the Sports Advisory Committee to University of Jammu.
Kalra is also the Vice President of the State Basketball Association, the J and K Wushu Association and the Taekwondo (Martial Arts).
Ranjeet Kalra is serving as a permanent Teaching Faculty with the University of Jammu in its UGC Human Resource Development Centre since 2006.
He has also remained the Regional Coordinator for the, DPG, European Union Peace Programme for Youth in J and K. He is the recipient of the First Maharaja Ranbir Singh Fellowship In Research.
Media-XI Cricket Club Jammu congratulated Ranjeet Kalra on being appointed as Advisor for Sports to the Government of Union Territory of Lakshdweep.
Kalra extended regular support to the Media-XI Cricket Club Jammu so that the journalists playing in the Club can nurture their cricketing talent.
