JAMMU: State President, Shri Ram Sena (SRS), Rajiv Mahajan demanded compensation for the police personnel injured in the clash with protesters in Jammu while on duty.
Police personnel die for the country, but there is no value for their lives, Rajiv said adding that nobody from government as well administration side has come to see the injured policemen.
Sub-Inspector Arun Kumar was critically wounded after he was attacked with a sharp edged weapon by some Sikh youths as clashes erupted between cops and a group of Sikh youths who were protesting against removal of posters of slain Khalistani leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, Rajiv said, adding Arun has received several stitches and is admitted to GMC hospital for treatment.
“If a civilian dies in stone pelting or during violence politicians as well as high command of Police Department go to their house but there is no value for the life of cops” he said.
Citing an example asking that the family of SI Arun Sharma, who was seriously injured by protesters was facing hardship as nobody from administration visited the cop.
After seeing SI Amit Sharma’s condition deteriorating, the doctors recommended to shift him to All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), New Delhi for treatment, Rajiv Mahajan said adding that it was the duty of Police Department to airlift the injured cop to AIIMS but surprisingly the family on its own left for Delhi that too by road.
He deplored Police Department for utter neglect of its gallant officer who accomplished herculean job in maintaining law and order.
“DGP K Rajindra always said that that law and order situation should be focused on priority”, Rajiv said and raised a question that is it not police department’s responsibility to look after those who got injuries during performing duties?
Demanding compensation to SI Arun Sharma, Rajiv said district and police administration should help his family in every possible way.
