Range Level Sports Festival begins: GHSS Hatli, Blahar Club win opening volleyball, cricket ties

KATHUA: Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Hatli and Blahar Cricket Club win opening volleyball and cricket ties respectively in Range Level Sports Festival, organised by Kathua Police under Civic Action Programme at District Police Lines ground, here on Monday.
In the opening cricket match, Blahar Cricket Club outplayed GHSS Chandwan while Blaster 11 Kathua defeated Army Public School (APS) Janglote in another match.
In volleyball, GHSS Hatli defeated APS Janglote in opening match while second match was won by GDC Kathua defeating Youth Club Hatli.
In other matches, Volleyball Club Bhaiya outplayed Public Jyoti Club Chann Arorian and Gurha Mundian Volleyball Club blanked CTM Volleyball Club.
Earlier, the sports festival was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mohd Suleman Choudhary, SSP Kathua in presence of Sanjay Parihar Additional SP Kathua, Parul Bhardwaj DySP DAR , S.S Sambyal DySP Headquarters Kathua, Subash Chander Bhardwaj District Youth and Sports Officer and other police officers.
The week long sports festival shall witness cricket, volleyball, athletics, kho-kho and other sports activities.
Teams from different schools and local clubs of under-19 age group are participating in sports festival.
“The main objective of this sports event to encourage and aware the youth to indulge themselves in sports activities as to remain fit and enthusiastic and above all keep themselves away from any intoxication,” SSP Kathua said.
He also laid stressed upon the youths that they should make sports as regular feature of their day to day life activity as sports contribute in their physical and mental fitness and especially personality development.
