‘Rang-e-Chinar’ national art workshop enters day two at GDC Eidgah

SRINAGAR: The vibrant ‘Rang-e-Chinar’ National Art Workshop, organized by the Master Sansar Chand Baru Memorial Charitable Trust (MSCBMC) in collaboration with Petronet LNG Limited, entered its second day at Hamidi Kashmiri Memorial Government Degree College, Eidgah.

Former MLA of Eidgah, Mubarak Gul, graced the occasion as chief guest, applauding the Trust’s efforts in promoting artistic exchange in Jammu & Kashmir.
He described Rang-e-Chinar as “a living bridge between heritage and innovation,” and encouraged youth to embrace their artistic roots.
Principal Dr. Deeba Iqbal, in her welcome address, emphasized the role of such events in enhancing creativity, cultural understanding, and peace-building among students.
A major highlight of the day was the live painting demonstration, where artists visually interpreted Kashmir’s autumnal beauty. Students from multiple institutions enthusiastically participated, observing and engaging with the artists to learn about diverse techniques and creative approaches.
The workshop featured acclaimed artists including Taslima Sona (Rajasthan), Dr. Rakhi Kumar (Delhi), Dr. Priti Samyukta and Kishan Kappari (Hyderabad), Supriya Amber (Madhya Pradesh), Debashish Dutta (Gujarat), Sharmila Sharma (Delhi), Deepu Kumar (Bihar), Apurba Karati (West Bengal), A.K. Douglas (Bengaluru), and Javid Iqbal (Sopore), showcasing styles ranging from realism to abstraction.
Anuradha Rishi, President of MSCBMC Trust, expressed gratitude to the college and participants, calling Rang-e-Chinar “a dialogue between generations of artists and learners.”
The event also honoured Master Sansar Chand Baru, legendary Pahari miniature artist and first curator of the Dogra Art Museum, whose legacy continues to inspire India’s art community.
