Rana terms ongoing elections as development versus rhetoric fight

NAGROTA: Lauding the people of Nagrota for endorsing the developmental agenda being pursued by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana on Thursday said National Conference would not dither from its chosen path of serving people in terms of enhancing their quality of life.
“Development versus rhetoric is the theme of current elections and National Conference stands for futuristic, holistic and inclusive infrastructural development”, the Provincial President said while addressing election meetings at at Kanyala, Nagola and Jandrah.
He added that massive participation of the people on Wednesday’s rally addressed by the Chief Minister is approval for what National Conference stands for. “As part of its commitment, the Omar-led government succeeded in retrieving the situation from most turbulent scenario of 2008-09 which paved the way for pushing development with full force”.
He said the election philosophy of his party has all along been to keep public cause over everything else, as it is a movement emanated from masses. “Indulging in rhetoric amounts to deceiving the people”, he said adding that the Chief Minister has ensured to translate into reality what he committed before the people. He gave an overview of initiatives taken during the past six years and said the achievements stand testimony to the fact that what could not be achieved during past few decades has been made possible in just six years.
Rana hoped that the people will use their democratic rights to strengthen the mechanism that stands for transforming Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh as models of development. “The endeavours of the past six years are before the people, who were best judges to adjudge the performance”, he added.
On his vision about Nagrota constituency, Rana, NC candidate for the constituency, reiterated that all out efforts would be made to convert the constituency as a vibrant township that opens up vistas of opportunities for its residents. He said development will be his top priority and he will pursue the mission of making Nagrota a model in the Jammu region
Rana said modest beginning in this regard was initiated years ago that has fructified in a range of developmental projects in key sectors in place. He said while infrastructural development has got impetus the service sector too has been given adequate focus. “In this effort, the people of the area have played most vital role in fixing priorities”, he said and hoped that their continued support will make easy the gigantic task of converting the area into a model constituency. He reiterated the need for drawing a cohesive and a futuristic plan for development of Nagrota as a residential, commercial and economic hub. He said the suggestions coming forth in this regard from people of the area will find place in the road map of Nagrota to be transformed as Nava Jammu.
Prominent among those present in these election meetings included Raj Baru, Sajjad Shaheen, Israr Khan, Sham Lal Shammi, Sarpanch Raghubir Singh, Sarpanch Pritam Singh and all members of Tehsil Joint Action Committee, Jandrah.
