Rana calls for societal intervention to ensure health for all

Jammu: National Confere-nce Provincial President Devender Rana and senior leader and former MLC Vijay Bakaya on Sunday emphasised the crucial need of ensuring health for all while appreciating voluntary efforts of the medical fraternity to reach out to poor and needy.
Rana and Bakaya were speaking at a function, after inaugurating a Free Car-diology Check-up Medical Camp, held in observance of Gandhi Jayanti at Tawi Vihar, Sidhra in Nagrota Assembly Constituency this morning.
The camp had been sponsored by leading heart-care specialist Dr Ashok Bakaya in conjunction with a state-of-art pathological laboratory, RedLab Jammu. D.K Sharma coordinated the first ever such effort in the area.
The MLA Nagrota said holding of medical camps in various areas is imperative to ensure a disease free society, where a person is hard pressed to care for self being during daily busy routines. He hoped that philanthropic organizations would come forward in a big way and help in making the mission of health for all a huge success. He called for timely care and diagnosis to reduce the mortality, especially among children and women.
“In this context, such camps assume added significance”, he maintained while asserting that endeavours would be made to organize similar camps related to other ailments across the Constituency.
Appreciating the laudable effort, Vijay Bakaya highlighted the importance of such camps, saying these help in generating awareness on various diseases as also identifying such of the patients, who otherwise are unaware about health related problems and get timely medicare.
“In this backdrop, the philanthropic effort of leading specialists in medical field is highly commendable and inspiring”, he said.
Rana and Bakaya complimented D.K Sharma and Dr Ashok Bakaya for their sincere efforts in making the camp a huge success.
D.K Sharma said that over 80 persons benefitted by the medical services available at the camp, like free pathological tests, subsdized ECG check up, free BP monitoring, free cardiac check up and cardiac safety advices.
Sharma said the objective of the camp was not only to examine and diagnose the patients of cardiovascular diseases but also to create awareness about risk factors like hypertension diabetes, hyperlipidaemia, obesity, stress and sedentary lifestyle responsible for causation of cardio vascular diseases and, various preventive measures which a person can bring about in his life style so that he is free from this disease
Red Lab conducted Blood tests on subsidised rates during the one-day camp.
