Ramnavami celebrated with religious fervour Dharmarth Trust takes out colourful Rath-Yatra

JAMMU: The festival of Ramnavami to mark the birth of Bhagwan Ram was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across the Jammu region.
To mark the occasion, an impressive and colourful Rath-Yatra was jointly taken out by Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust and Raghunath Bazaar Welfare Association, Sanatan Dharma Sabha, Rajput Sabha, Brahaman Sabha, Mahajan Sabha, Khatri Sabha, Raghunath Bazaar Heritage Society and various social originations.
Rajkumar Martand Singh and Rajkumar Ranvijay Singh attended Ramnavmi Rath Yatra Poojan at Raghunath Temple.
Thousands of devotees from various parts of the region took part in the procession. The procession started from Raghunath Temple and passing through City Chowk, Purani Mandi, Link Road, Jain Bazar, Purani Mandi and City Chowk culminated back at Raghunath Temple.
Hundreds of devotees comprising prominent citizens, politicians and heads of religious organisations participated in the Yatra. Various heads of the non-Hindu organisations also accorded a rousing reception to the Yatra enroute.
Several prominent people including MoS Education Priya Sethi, Divisional Commissioner Pawan Kotwal, IG J and K Police Danish Rana, Director Doordarshan Anjali Sharma, Yashpal Gupta, Dr Deepak Abrol, Maj Gen (Retd) Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, Maj Gen (Retd) R.S Jamwal, Ramakant Dubey, Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak and Yudvir Sethi joined the Shobha Yatra procession.
People in large number thronged various temples across the region to pay their obeisance to Bhagwan Ram.
“Today marks the end of nine days of Navratra fasting and the Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Ram. We have come to pay our obeisance at the famous Raghunath Temple dedicated to Bhagwan Ram in the city”, Pooja Jamwal, a resident of Jammu said.
Long queues could be seen outside the temples in the region especially outside Raghunath Temple and Bawe Wali Mata Temple.
People from other faiths were also seen greeting their Hindu brethren on the auspicious day.
Muslim Federation also welcomed the Rath Yatra. Shashi Khajuria, Secretary Dharmarth Trust co-ordinated the Yatra.
Tight security arrangements were made across the city for the smooth conduct of celebrations and senior police officers were also presents on the occasion.
Meanwhile, devotees also offered special prayers on the banks of river Tawi where they had gone for immersion of Saakh. Mammoth crowd of the devotees were seen on the banks of River Chenab in Akhnoor where people performed Saakh immersion.
As part of the Ramnavmi celebrations, Dharmik Yuvak Mandal, Jammu organised impressive Jhankis (tableaus) based on the selected ideals of the holy Ramcharitramanas.
Pattern Dharmik Yuvak Mandal, Jammu Dharnidhar Sharma and President Sanjay Anand conducted the Jhankis. According to Dharnidhar, the best adjudged Jhankies will be awarded suitable prizes on 17th of this month. He disclosed a panel of judges has been assigned the task for the selection of the tableaus for prizes.
