RAMNAGAR: Castigating the BJP for its meek surrender and second fiddle role in the Coalition Government of the State, Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman JKNPP and former Minister, on Friday appealed to the people to stand united to teach the Saffron Party a befitting lesson for acts of betrayal and cowardly succumbing to the dictates of PDP over the recent issue on Article 370 in which the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had categorically said that those who opposed the article were ‘anti-nationals’.
He said that the people of Jammu region all over were burning with outrage and feeling disparaged and let down by the meek surrender of the BJP over the issue for the greed of power. He was addressing various public meetings in Pathwar, Deot and Ramnagar on Friday.
While addressing the gathering on the local issues, he said that the inclement weather during the winters had added to the woes of the people of Ramnagar, Majalta and the adjoining villages who were bearing the brunt of the disruptive power and water supply.
Harsh said that the SCs and STs were the most neglected lot in the area and had complained about discriminatory treatment in development as well as ignored in the process of preparation of Aadhaar cards. He regretted that the local BJP MLA was least bothered about the welfare of the people who only remained focused to count upon the doles and bonanzas announced by the State government for the legislators and ministers including two times hike in CDF, Car loan, Housing loan, TA/DA, Sitting allowance besides others.
Singh also toured Ramnagar and a public meeting at bus stand. While listening to the grievances of the local people, he condemned the district and local administration Udhampur and Ramnagar for registering criminal cases against peaceful protestors who were seeking restoration of power supply in various villages. He said that with power supply disrupted in more than two dozen villages of the constituency for the last more than 21 days, the government functionaries had failed to respond to the power crisis prevailing in such areas. He said that with majority of the villages of Dudu Basantgarh Tehsil and several hilly areas of the Tehsil Ramnagar had plunged into darkness adding to the trauma of the people. He regretted that when people had no other option except staging protest demonstrations, the local administration resorted to quell the voice of the people by coercion and unlawful use of force.
Singh called the district administration to provide immediate succour to the people affected by the inclemency of weather including recent rains and snowfall. He warned of a full scale agitation in case power supply, ration supply and damaged roads were not restored at the earliest in Ramnagar Constituency besides withdrawal of FIRs lodged against the innocent people.
Others who spoke on the rallies included Dharam singh Bittoo, Rajesh Sharma, Dev Singh, Mansa Ram Dhoi, Karnail Singh, Raghubir Singh, Purshottam Singh, Makhan Lal, Raj Kumar, Subhash Sharma, Angrez Singh, Sukhjeet, Pushpinder Singh, Arun Dev, Mohit Mankotia, Shankar Das, Akash Kharka, Mobin Bandey, Sugardin, Makhan Singh, Meenakshi Devi and Sardar Khan etc.
