JAMMU: Making it second time in a row, Rakesh Gupta was on Sunday declared elected as President, Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI) in keenly watched elections that witnessed close contest. Manish Gupta, however clinched the slot of Secretary General by defeating Deepak Aggarwal.
In a straight contest for the post of President CCI, Rakesh Gupta defeated Arun Gupta with a margin of 180 votes. Rakesh Gupta secured 1208 votes while Arun Gupta got 1028 votes.
For the post of Senior Vice President, Rajesh Gupta was declared winner with a huge margin of 1371 votes. Rajesh got 1806 votes while Rajiv Gupta secured only 435 votes.
In a contest for the post of Secretary General, Manish Gupta secured 1294 votes and was declared elected. His rival Deepak Aggarwal got 939 votes. Rajiv Gupta (Kaka), who was declared elected as Junior Vice-President got 1138 votes and he defeated Rahul Mahajan with a margin of 33 votes. Rahul Mahajan bagged 1105 votes.
For the post of Secretary, Gourav Gupta secured 1323 votes and defeated Rajesh Gupta who got 905 votes. Ashu Gupta has already been elected Treasurer unopposed.
The Bi-ennial Elections of CCI for the term 2017-19 were held today at Chamber House under the supervision of the election committee headed by Annil Suri. CCI Election President thanked the team of his election Committee comprising of Rajan Gupta, Jagdish Langer, Ashwani Khullar and the polling staff for their contribution in conducting the peaceful and fair elections. The Election President also thanked all the worthy members who participated in such a large number by casting their valuable votes and elected their future leader for the term 2017-2019.
