Rajouri Club wins Premier Football League title

RAJOURI: Rajouri Football Club on Friday emerged Rajouri Premier League champion after they beat Nowshera Football Club 2-1 in the last league tie that took place at Sports Stadium, here.
Mushtaq and Shakib Mirza scored a goal each for the winning side. In today’s match, Prof Naseem Malik of PG College Rajouri was chief guest, who witnessed the match and felicitated the winners. President of the District Football Association (DFA) Rajouri, Awais Ganai (Bilal) was guest of honour.
“With today’s football match, the Rajouri league concluded at the Sports Stadium. The Volleyball title went to Huricanes Club while Ajmer 7 Star won the Kabaddi final. Similarly, the Hockey tile bagged by Rajouri Red. Now, the four qualified teams shall compete in the next level of the competition to be held in Jammu,” Organising Secretary of the district league and Manager Sports Stadium, Rajouri, Bashir Ahmed informed.
It was for the first time that district Rajouri witnessed some organised sports events, especially in the disciplines of kabaddi, hockey and football. Except for volleyball, other three games mostly had fresh talent to participate in any sporting event.
Furthermore, none of the four disciplines have organised or established district sports associations at Rajouri.
“We are confident that with the holding of the Premier League, there will be renewed interested among the clubs and the sports association to streamline the affairs on professional lines,” said Manager, Bashir Ahmed, who himself is a qualified Volleyball Coach of the J&K Sports Council.
