Rajendra reviews security, finalises I-Day arrangements

SRINAGAR: Finalizing the security arrangements ahead of Independence Day (ID) functions, being organised in the summer capital, a high level meeting was convened at Police Control Room (PCR) here on Saturday.
The meeting was chaired by Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar, besides senior officers from police, intelligence, central paramilitary forces and civil administration also attended the meeting.
According to a police spokesperson, during the meeting, Rajendra sought reports from the participants about the status of security arrangements and deployment plan, put in place for smooth and peaceful conduct of state level function being held at Bakshi Stadium here on 15th August and at all district headquarters of the State. Senior officers representing different security agencies briefed the meeting, about the security arrangements put in place to maintain the law and order and ensure peaceful conduct of ID functions in the State. IGP Kashmir Zone, SJM Gillani also briefed the meeting about the security arrangements made for state level Independence Day Parade being held at Bakshi Stadium and all district headquarters in the Valley. Stressing upon better coordination among all sister agencies and the civil administration, Rajendra said that to foil any attempt by the trouble makers to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere, close liaison should be maintained at every level and the officers supervising different components should be briefed accordingly. The comprehensive security grid and deployment mechanism for conduct of peaceful celebrations needs to be fully implemented, he said.
