Raje asks officers to complete 2nd phase of Jal Abhiyan before
Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today asked officers to ensure all the works taken up under the second phase of Jal Swavalamban Abhiyan is completed before the arrival of monsoon so that rain water could be stored.
Speaking on the fourth-day of Collectors-SPs conference here, she suggested that works should be taken up in two shifts in order to complete it in the given timeframe.
She said the ambitious Abhiyan will make the state self-reliant in water.
The chief minister also asked the officers to encourage local youths, students, NCC cadets, religious and social organisations to contribute in the campaign.
Raje announced to give her one-month salary for the campaign following which members of the council of ministers and parliamentary secretaries also took initiative to donate one month’s salary.
Chief secretary, additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries, secretaries, district collectors, DGP also announced to donate one-day salary for the campaign.
All the personnel of the departments of police, panchayti raj and forest department will also give one-day salary.
She said the first phase of the campaign was successful and the rural areas where the first phase was undertaken registered a decline in supply of water through tankers by 57 per cent and the wells which had gone dry now have water.
