Rajasthan lifts All India Super-Six T20 Cricket trophy;DGP Vaid felicitates the cricketers

JAMMU: Iqbal Khan’s all-round display guided Rajasthan to defeat Tamil Nadu in the final to bag the title trophy of All India Super-Six T20 Cricket Tournament for Physically Handicapped organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police at Gulshan Ground, here on Monday.
In the final match, Rajasthan XI scripted a four-wicket victory against Tamil Nadu XI.
Batting first, Tamil Nadu XI was bowled out at 128 runs in the 20 overs. Rajesh (19), Arun (17) and Ponraj (15) runs were the mian scorers. For Rajsthan XI, Iqbal Khan grabbed two wickets while Jasiram, Ranidan, Mohd. Ali and Naresh took one wicket each.
In reply, Rajasthan XI chased the target in 16.4 overs for the loss of six wickets. Iqbal Khan played a fine inning of 55 runs followed by Satpal and Chotaram, who contributed 22 and 12 runs respectively for the team.
Rajesh claimed two wickets while Parthi and Arun shared apiece each.
For his all-round performance, Iqbal Khan was declared as Man of the Match.
Today’s match was officiated by Sudhir Singh, Saleem ur Rehman, Sadiq Hussain, Madan Mohan, Suresh Singh, Sham Singh Langey and Sandeep Manchanda whereas the commentary and the proceedings of the valedictory function was conducted by Rajesh Dhar.
Best fielder award of the tournament was given to Parthi of Tamil Nadu, Best Bowler award to Rajmahesh of Tamil Nadu, Best Batsman award to Jagmohan of J and K for his batting in second match whereas the man of the series award was given to Sachin Shiva of Tamil Nadu for his al–round performance including his unbeaten century.
In the closing ceremony, Director General of Police (DGP), Dr. S.P Vaid was the Chief Guest, who congratulated the winning team saying that the sports events for the physically challenged persons boost their morale and provide them an opportunity to showcase their talent.
He said that the cricketers during the championship by their talent made all believe that they are not less than any other and have good sports skills. He said that these cricketers need to be encouraged to hone their talent.
Six teams from different states of the country viz Rajasthan, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and J and K played in the super six, in two pools consisting three teams each.
Dr. Vaid appreciated the discipline and skills of the cricketers, they demonstrated during the championship. He also appreciated the efforts of organisers for conducting the championship in a befitting manner. He distributed trophies and mementoes among the players and teams.
He disclosed that such events would also be organised in Srinagar in future.
Additional Director General of Police Security, Dilbag Singh was the Guest of Honour who said that the championship was organised at a short notice and efficient arrangements were made for the lodging and boarding of participating teams.
Among others, the function was attended by ADsGP, L. Mohanti and A.K Choudhary, IsGP, Yoginder Koul, M.A Khan, S.D Singh, S.A Watali, M.A Ganai and J.P Singh, DIG, Alok Kumar and A.A Wani, SO to ADGP Armed, M.Y Kichloo, Dy.SP, Junaid Wali, Sports Officer Armed Hqrs, Jigmet Lhundup, Ravi Chouhan Founder Secretary of Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India and other police officers.
