JAMMU: Rain played spoilsport as the match of Legends League Cricket between Bhilwara Kings and Southern Super Stars abandoned at MA Stadium, here on Wednesday.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha interacted with the players Irfan Pathan, Ross Taylor, Yusuf Pathan, Lendl Simmons during the break.
The Lt Governor tweeted: “It was a moment of great pride to meet the former international players during ongoing Legends League Cricket match at MA Stadium, Jammu. This tournament will certainly inspire the new generation and make an indelible mark in J&K sports history”.
It was a festive atmosphere and all the players enjoyed to shake hands with Lieutenant Governor of J&K Union Territory.
Earlier, Southern Super Stars skipper won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Put into bat, Irfan Pathan led Bhilwara Kings, amid several rain interruptions in their innings, scored a modest total of 117 runs in 17 overs, on track which was on a slower side and difficult for the batters to score freely.
Bowling all-rounder, Iqbal Abdullah, who was promoted to bat at number-4, scored brisk 40 runs off 33 balls, studded with 7 boundaries, while Robin Bist contributed 32 off 27 balls with 4 fours and one six. Yousuf Pathan (30), Lendl Simmons (11) and Irfan Pathan (10) also contributed to the team’s total.
The rain first interrupted in the 16th over when Bhilwara Kings were 101/4 in 15.3 overs, however, after resumption of the match, heavy rain again interrupted after the completion of 17 overs, so the match was abandoned.
