PYC protests, demands resignation of HRD Minister

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) along with Mahila Congress and NSUI today held a protest, demanding resignation of Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani for her role in the circumstances leading to the unfortunate incident of suicide of a Dalit scholar of Hyderabad University Rohith Vemula.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress held a strong protest at Shaheedi Chowk Jammu against the role of Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani and Union Minister for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya for their alleged role in the matter.
The protest was led by Pranav Shagotra-President PYC along with Indu Pawar-President Pradesh Mahila Congress and Neeraj Kundan-President NSUI.
The hundreds of activist of Youth Congress, Mahila Congress and NSUI assembled at Shaheedi Chowk Jammu today and burnt the effigy of Smriti Irani amidst slogans.
Pranav criticised Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani and Union Minister for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya for their alleged role in the matter leading to suicide of a Dalit scholar of Hyderabad University. He said that the Union HRD Minister has misrepresent the facts in order to mislead the nation over the issue which is evident by the exposure by the team of professors who have reportedly tendered their resignations from their administrative posts, protesting over the ‘fabricated’ statements of Irani. He also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi to shelter the tainted ministers and BJP leaders.
Shagotra said that PYC will continue to raise the issues of public concerned at all levels and fight for the cause of general public under the guidance of AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and IYC President Arminder Singh Raja.
Indu Pawar-President Pradesh Mahila Congress and Neeraj Kundan -President NSUI also addressed the protesters.
