Purchase of road marking paint at exorbitant rates;Vigilance registers FIR against 3 R&B XEns, 2 suppliers

JAMMU: Three Executive Engineers (XEns) of Public Works Department (PWD) R&B and two suppliers, among others have been booked for misappropriation of funds in the purchase of black and yellow road marking paint on exorbitant rates.
The State Vigilance Organisation has registered FIR 03/2017 against the then Executive Engineers of Special Sub Division R&B Bandipora Abdul Aziz Kashmiri, Akhtar Hussain and Sheikh Mohammad Hussain, in pursuance to criminal conspiracy hatched by them and others by abuse of their official positions during the year 2004-05.
They misappropriated an amount of Rs. 5,21,210 while effecting purchase of 301 mtrs M.S Pipe 8 dia 6mm, 174 mtrs, M.S Pipe 10 dia, 1000 litres of black and yellow road marking paint of Aquolac and 6000 ltrs of Repidite on exorbitant rates by issuing supply order to their favourite suppliers/beneficiaries namely M/s Mohammad Ashraf Dar and Nazir Ahmad Tramboo thereby causing loss to the state exchequer.
The misappropriation was detected during the enquiry upon the investigation of FIR 41/2006 registered with the vigilance organisation.
Accordion to SVO, the investigation of the case prima-facie established the offences punishable under section 5(1)(c)(d) r/w 5(2) J&K P.C Act svt. 2006 120-B RPC against the public servants namely Abdul Aziz Kashmiri, Sheikh Mohammad Hussain and Akhter Hussain all the then Executive Engineers Special Sub Division R&B Bandipora and others. Accordingly a case has been registered and investigation has been set in motion.
