Punjabi book ‘Sikh Panth De Mahan Jarnail’ released

JAMMU: Additional Secretary, Cultural Academy, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn on Sunday released a Punjabi book titled ‘Sikh Panth De Mahan Jarnail’, based on the history of medieval India at a function held here at Gurdwara Baba Fateh Singh, Gandhi Nagar here. The book was written by late Darshan Kaur.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion include Chairman, MBS College of Engineering and Technology, Rangil Singh; Matinder Singh, son of late Darshan Kaur, author of the book and President, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu, Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik.
Rangil Singh said that Darshan Kaur has done a tremendous job for humanity by writing such a relevant historical book ‘Sikh Panth De Mahan Jarnail’ covering the medieval period of India. He said that she had marked the contribution of Sikh Jarnails to free the humanity from the clutches of foreign rulers and provided the common man an environment to live with love, brotherhood and with due respect for all sects of the society irrespective of colour, creed and culture.
While appreciating her contribution as writer, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn said that in this book Darshan Kaur did research on the life and contribution of the Sikh warriors of medieval India like Shaheed Baba Deep Singh, Jassa Singh Ahluwalia, Baghel Singh, Shaheed Baba Phoola Singh Akali and Shaheed Sham Singh Atariwala. He further said that this book will provide knowledge to youth about the contribution of these Sikh Jarnails in discovering the democratic India.
Dr Monojit and Kanwal Kashmiri also spoke and paid their homage to the departed soul.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, and vote of thanks was presented by Matinder Singh.
Others who were present included Chand Deepika, Popinder Singh and Tejinder Singh Premee, President, Manoranjan Kala Kendra, Jammu.
