Punjab wrestler Jagroop lifts Udhampur Kawa Kesari Title

KATRA: Wrestler Jagroop of Amritsar in Punjab clinched the 7th Annual Udhampur Kawa Kesari Dangal title outplaying wrestler Benia Min of J and K Police in the main bout that lasted for 21 minutes at Government High School Kawa, near here on Friday.
The Dangal, in which 54 bouts were played, was held under the overall supervision of President J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and President and Sarpanch Durga Dass Padha.
Dangal was organised by Kawa Dangal Committee in collaboration with J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India and President Senior Citizens Welfare Forum Katra Shiv Kumar Sharma was the Chief Guest on the occasion who gave away cash prizes to the winners and runners-up wrestlers.
District Udhampur Indian Style Wrestling Association Varinder Badyal, General Secretary District Reasi Indian Style Wrestling Association Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Sub-Inspector Lakhbinder Singh and Naib Tehsildar Santokh Chand were the Guests of Honour.
Winner of main bout Wrestler Jagroop was awarded a cash prize of Rs 16,000 by Shiv Kumar Sharma and Sarpanch Durga Dass Padha who was accompanied by Virender Badyal and Deepak Anand. Runner-up wrestler Benia Min awarded with cash prize of Rs 15,000 by Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri) and Sub-Inspector Lakhbinder Singh.
The second main bout was won by Ajay Sharma of Landen Power House Udhampur who defeated Manna of Chandigarh. Ajay was awarded with cash prize of Rs 6,000 while Manna got Rs 5,000. Another 2nd Malli bout was played between Mandeep Dhollu of Rohtak in Harayana V/S Nisar Ahmed of Doda. This bout was won by Mandeep Dhollu, he was awarded with cash prize of Rs 6,000 while runner-up Wrestler got Rs 5,000.
Members and technical officials who helped for the conduct of this wrestling event included Durga Dass Padha, Madan Lal Mansotra, Sat Paul Sharma, Raj Mohd., Rajinder Singh Katoch, Yovraj Singh Katoch, Romesh Mansotra, Vijay Kumar Sharma, Gurmeet Singh, Raj Kishore, Subash Chander, Sudesh Kumar Magotra, Hukam Chand, Basant Ram, Deepak Anand, Tulinder Kumar, Santokh Chand, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Laxhman Singh Katoch, Mohammad Fareed, Om Parkash Verma and Murli Dhar (Munna).
