Punjab will soon be free from AAP-Da: Chugh
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Thursday strongly criticized the governance of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab, calling for a major shift in leadership in the state.

In an interview with STATE TIMES, following the historic victory of the BJP in the Delhi Assembly polls, Chugh declared that Punjab would soon be “free from AAP-Da”.
He emphasized that the people of Delhi had already rejected the “lies, deceit, and hypocrisy” of the AAP, and now, Punjab too, was on the same path toward a much-needed change.
Chugh said that the people of Delhi have already shown a mirror to former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who lived a lavish lifestyle in a “Sheesh Mahal” while failing to deliver on promises and indulging in corruption.
Chugh particularly highlighted the financial mismanagement by the AAP government in Punjab. He stated that the state was on the brink of bankruptcy due to the inability of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his administration to properly manage the finances of Punjab.
Chugh accused the AAP government of failing to address critical issues while focusing on unnecessary political gimmicks.
He said the financial situation in Punjab was deteriorating rapidly, and this had led to widespread dissatisfaction among the state’s citizens.
Chugh slammed Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann for his lack of attention to the most pressing issues faced by the people. He pointed out that Mann had spent considerable time in meetings with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal instead of addressing urgent matters in the state.
He also criticized the CM for not holding the winter session of the Punjab Assembly, which was essential for discussing and addressing the problems faced by the people of Punjab.
The failure of the AAP government to tackle law and order issues was another point of contention for Chugh.
He said the lawlessness in Punjab had reached alarming levels, with criminal activities, such as mafia-raj and land grabbing, running rampant.
“Local residents have voiced their frustration, with many accusing the AAP of making hollow promises and failing to deliver on their commitments”, he added.
Chugh asked the Punjab government to apologize to the people and immediately convene the winter session of the Punjab Assembly to listen to the grievances of the citizens.
Referring to the conviction of Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in the 1984 -Sikh riots case, Chugh said that after 40 years, justice has finally been served to the victims. He credited this development to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, which reinvestigated cases and ensured accountability. He lauded the Prime Minister for opening the case of 1984 Sikh riots in Delhi.
“It was only because of the Narendra Modi-led government that the long-awaited justice was delivered. The Congress government, for decades, shielded the perpetrators instead of ensuring justice,” he added..
He also recalled former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s infamous remark in his speech at Gandhi Maidan, where he had stated, “When a big tree falls, earth does shake”. He said such a statement reflected the Congress party’s insensitivity towards the Sikh community and its role in justifying the horrific violence of 1984.
Chugh assailed the Gandhi-Nehru family, accusing them of supporting and promoting in politics those involved in the anti-Sikh riots. He said while the victims struggled for justice for decades, the Congress leadership rewarded and shielded the accused and gave them mandate for MP and MLA seats.
