KATHUA: As per the directions of the Excise Commissioner, J and K Government Jammu, Tsering Angchok for the elections to be held in Punjab, Excise Department has tightened its noose on violators of the various provisions of the J and K Excise Act in Kathua District adjoining Punjab border.
Under the active supervision of the Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Ghanshyam Singh, the Excise Team Kathua led by ETO Excise Range Kathua, Sandeep Gupta, ETO, Eradication Jammu Suraj Chander Singh, Inspectors Excise, Arun Kumar and Shadi Lal along with excise teams raided the Tarf Sanji, Jaraie, Dharala and Barnoti areas of Kathua District to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
In the process more than 1,050 kilograms of Lahan, 151 pouches of illicit liquor were recovered by the raiding team from the state land and later destroyed on spot.
