PTTI Vijaypur introduces vermi culture for organic waste utilisation

VIJAYPUR: In order to utilise/recycle the waste material of PTTI Vijaypur complex area, PTTI Vijaypur introduced vermi culture for disposal of leaves, litter, kitchen waste etc. On the occasion, Ashok Kumar Gupta, Incharge Central Agricultural Sponsored Scheme of District Samba visited the institute and demonstrated the modern technology of production of vermi compost by using portable as well as concrete structures.
He said that organic waste is converted into final product after a period of 1½ months approximately which then can be utilised in flower beds and fruit/ornamental plants for better quality by improving texture of soil. Ashok Kumar, SSP, JKPS Principal PTTI Vijaypur thanked Agriculture Department for providing technical know-how so that organic waste material of the campus is converted into compost within a short period of time. He said that polythene be banned in the institute from this week onwards which creates hurdle in the decomposition of organic waste. The technology will provide the way to use the organic waste with the complex and will result in its better disposal.
