JAMMU: Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ansuya Jamwal, presided over a meeting on Monday to assess the progress on the issuance of ration cards to domiciled workers registered on the eShram portal. The meeting underscored the importance of extending this essential service to all eligible workers, particularly those who have yet to complete their eKYC processes.
In her directives, ADC emphasised the need for a meticulous, tehsil-wise identification and facilitation effort to ensure that all workers are registered and provided with ration cards. To expedite this process, she instructed the organisation of special camps across the region.
The Sub-Divisional Magistrates have been tasked with overseeing the development of these camps, ensuring smooth coordination and implementation.
The roles of Tehsil Supply Officers and Revenue Department officials were highlighted as pivotal in this extensive exercise. These camps are not only aimed at registration but also at spreading awareness among the workers about the benefits and addressing any doubts they might have.
Detailed ground strategies were laid out by ADC to streamline the process and ensure no eligible worker is left without a ration card. The meeting was attended by officers including Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh, Assistant Labour Commissioner Dr. Rupali Jasrotia and Assistant Directors Food Supply, Santosh Sharma and Haroon among others.
This initiative aligns with the broader mandate from the Supreme Court, which recently directed states and Union Territories to issue ration cards to all unorganised and migrant workers registered on the eShram portal within a stipulated timeframe.
