POONCH : The residents of Ward No 2 and 3, Qazi Morha Poonch blocked the Jammu – Poonch National Highway in protest against Power Development Department (PDD) for non-supply of power in these two wards for the last three days.
The protesters alleged that the department had shifted transformer from one place to the other but the line was not energised for the last three days due to which the whole areas is in Dark. The protesters staged a Dharna at Qazi Morha and blocked the National Highway.
The AEE PDD and the SHO Poonch reached the spot and assured the protesters that they will get light within 24 hours. On the assurance of the AEE, the protesters lifted Dharna and the road was thrown open after two hours.
Prominent among those present in the protest include Showqat Ahmed, Iftkhar Ahmed, Ch Ghulam Din, Rakesh Kumar, Mohd Shabir Khan.
