SRINAGAR: Raising anti BJP slogans, scores of people under the banner of Kashmir Citizen Forum on Tuesday staged protest in Srinagar against what they called ‘anti-Kashmir PDP-BJP’ alliance to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir.
The forum members assembled at the Press Enclave here and termed any coalition between PDP and BJP as ‘anti-Kashmir’ and ‘anti-Muslims’.
Holding banners, placards and black flags symbolising their anger, the protesters shouted slogans like ‘Modi Ka Jo Yaar Hay, Gaddar Hay Gaddar Hay’.
“Every Kashmiri knows the anti-Kashmir and anti-Muslim credentials of BJP, so we want to caution Mufti Mohammad Sayeed not to form any kind of alliance with the Hindu nationalists,” said one of the protesters covering his head with black cloth.
Identifying himself as Omar and a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Citizens Forum, he said, “If PDP formed the government with BJP it will be detrimental for Kashmiris and the Muslims living in India.”
As Omar and his other colleagues were talking to media, the other protesters raised slogans ‘Yeh Muluk Hamara Hay Iss Ka Faisla Hum Karrien Gay’ and ‘Mufti Sahab Hosh Mein Aow’.
The protest took place day ahead when PDP President Mehbooba Mufti is scheduled to meet the State Governor N.N Vohra to inform the later about the developments of the government formation.
PDP emerged as the highest seats taking political outfit in the recently concluded Assembly elections. BJP got 25, NC 15 and Congress ended up with 12 seats.
