BILLAWAR: Billawar Zila Andolan (BZA) held a protest at Billawar town wherein people from different villages of Billawar participated and resented Govt.’s denial of district status to Billawar.
Speaking on the occasion, Convener of Billawar Zila Andolan Hari Chand Jalmeria Advocate charged the present State Coalition Govt. headed by Mufti Mohd Sayed of not caring for removal of imbalances in creation of new districts. The previous Govt. headed by Ghulam Nabi Azad in the year 2008 had haphasardly created four districts each in Kashmir and Jammu provinces without adopting any fair and transparent criteria. It was all done on political considerations for electoral purposes. Three districts were made out of one Doda District and districts of 15/20 km distances were created in the Valley without any demand or genuineness therefor.
It was hoped that the present BJP-PDP Govt. would take initiative for removal of this imbalance. But it is very sad that this Govt. also seems ignoring genuine right of Billawar and few other areas in Jammu province.
Durga Dass Upadhiya, Jagdev Singh Miyan, Bishan Dass Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
The Committee of the BZA decided to intensify the movement and hold a massive rally at Billawar on 15th June in support of the demand for creation of Billawar District and also to hold rallies in Macchedi and Ramkot Tehsils shortly.
Prominent other participants who spoke -Karan Singh Dharal, Master Bhagwan Singh, Master Vidya Rattan, Pt. Dwarika Nath, Taramani Sharma, SDhani Ram, Master Pritam Sharma, Shmt Indro Devi, Bishan Dass Gupta, Shivedev Singh, Bashir Ahmed and Sagar Singh.
