R S PURA: The residents of various villages of R.S Pura held number of protests against the Power Development Department alleging them for their inefficiency and lack of interest.
The protesters blocked Jammu R S Pura Road at Simbal Morh for hours and raised slogans against the PDD. Sarpanch Rajinder Singh Nathu, Sarpanch Matvinder Singh Sodhi, Hardev Singh, Gurmeet Singh and may others alleged that during this scorching heat of summer the power disappears at 12:00 PM till next morning besides numerous power cuts and low voltage.
They said that Jammu faces this problem when the Secretariat moves to Srinagar because the concentration of the authorities at the helm of affairs moves along with the Secretariat. The protesters warned the authorities that the people of Jammu are also human beings and they also have the equal rights.
SDPO R S Pura Harjeet Singh reached the spot and pacified the protesters and assured them that their concern will be conveyed to the department for redressal of their grievances.
Meanwhile, a big protest was also held at Nowshera by the locals and they also charged the authorities for neglecting the remote and un-important areas in the matter of providing power. They said that the authorities have seized to realize the importance of this holy month of Ramadan and the scorching heat. The people of the area appealed to the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to personally monitor the issue of providing power to the people in Jammu during summer.
