Protest against traffic post near temple

UDHAMPUR: Residents of Mand West and Tikri Panchayat held a protest under Sarpanch Surjeet Singh Jamwal and Yash Sharma against Traffic Police Post established near Kali Mata Mandir.
The setting up of the post has created traffic jam which has led to public inconvenience.
It was alleged by the Sarpanchs that traffic cops stopped all the trucks near Mandir and do not allow them to move further for the reason best known to them.
It was further alleged that during their stay drivers of the vehicles consume liquor near the religious place. They said that it becomes difficult for the villagers residing there particularly school, college going children and women folk to walk on the road.
Sarpanch Surjeet Singh said “we have already met DIG Traffic Ashkoor Wani in this regard who assured us to remove that post within weeks time but no action has been taken so far.
Meanwhile Panthers Party Supremo Bhim Singh reached the spot and after listening the problems being faced by the villagers, spoke to Chief Secretary Iqbal Khandey and apprised him the apathetic attitude of the Traffic Police.
Bhim assured the public that if he was unable to solve this problem within two days , he would also join them in their protest. Dy.SP Headquarter Gaurav Mahajan , SHO Rehmbal , Chowki Officer Tikri also reached the spot and assured the public that their problem will be sorted out within two days.
After their assurance , people lifted their Dharna and traffic was allowed to proceed further.
Capt. Arjun Singh, Dharampal Singh, Kultar Singh , Vikram Badyal , Nek Ram, all Panchs, Shamsher Singh(Youth President), Ganesh Sharma (Vice -President), Vachaspati, Kaka Ram and Aju Sharma were among the protesters.
