STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: JK Public School (JKPS), Kunjwani is a CBSE affiliated, child-centric, value-driven, co-educational, Senior Secondary school, which enjoys the privilege of being the FIRST CBSE school (direct affiliation) of Jammu. Stretched over a period of three decades, JKPS Kunjwani has emerged itself into a trendsetter, a model of excellence imparting 21st century holistic education to children on its rolls.
Members of Rajat Sharma Club of Jr. Journalists, interviewed the Principal Rajesh Rathore. Here are the excerpts of the meaningful transaction between the Jr. Journalists (JJ) and the Principal Rajesh Rathore (RR):
JJ: How do you inculcate the requisite finer sensibilities in your students?
RR: Schooling at JK Public School Kunjwani goes beyond the classrooms into a wider creative world outside. Apart from a keen focus on academics, various creative activities are taught that engage the mental and intellectual faculties of our students.
JJ: Music is the elixir of life. How will you reflect on it?
RR: Indian and Western Music, both vocal and instrumental are offered to our students. While vocal music offers a wide creative landscape for students to paint their feelings and emotions, Instrumental music strengthens their fingers and also improves their coordination of the mind and body.
JJ: How do you provide creative platforms to children to showcase their talent?
RR: Festivals and presentations held from time to time in the school are occasions to showcase budding talent in the school. The students also regularly take part in several inter-school events and have done the school proud by winning many of such events.
JJ: What do you prefer: career making or man making?
RR: The schools today anywhere in the world, are at cross-roads. We are quite cautious of not being trapped in that temptation of high grades and percentiles. Our emphasis is on man making. We are set to redefine the student achievement in terms of their social effectiveness alongwith their personal accomplishments.
JJ: How do you define the role of Art & artistic sensibilities?
RR: Art & aesthetic sensibilities are important for the development of individuals and societies. It enables individuals to imagine novel, productive, and fulfilling solutions to the challenges humanity faces today.
JJ: What is the appropriate age to instil the elements of art in students?
RR: It is the art that touches our heart & soul and turns mundane into magnificent. If art is so essential to make the world a joy to live in, training for it must start with children in their formative stage. They learn to reflect on the larger and broader issues that affect humanity, and make a connection with one another and with nature.
JJ: Artistic perception is the earnest need of the hour for entrepreneurs. Your take on it?
RR: Art not only develops students, but also helps them to become better employees and entrepreneurs. No other example illustrates better than Apple, whose founder Steve Jobs created the organization, not to make technical products, but to create pieces of art that people around the world can admire, appreciate, and adopt to improve their daily lives. Businesses around the globe are realizing that integrating the imagination developed through an arts education and the knowledge of technology education is the key to success.
JJ: Thanks a lot sir for sparing your valuable time and for reflecting your vision and strategies for the holistic grooming of JKIIANS. Your visionary leadership and administrative strategies will certainly put the JKPS Kunjwani on a new trajectory. Wishing you the best of luck!
RR: Umpteen thanks, my beloved students. You are the change agents. You are the future of this great nation. Groom yourselves well & make us feel proud. Good luck!
