SRINAGAR: A tour of 20 progressive orchardists of District Srinagar were flagged off here on Wednesday by Chief Horticulture Officer, Srinagar for five days training programme to Himachal Pradesh. During their tour programme, they are scheduled to visit IHBT (Institute of Himalayan Bio-resources and Technology) Palampur, CCSK University Palampur, Apiculture Research Station Nagrota, Bagwan, RHRS Bijoura Kullu, where the orchardists will interact with scientists for various new interventions in horticulture and allied sectors.
Besides, the orchardists will also visit some local orchardists of Kullu valley for getting the first hand knowledge about the various scientific techniques adopted by them in their orchards so that they can also implement the new techniques in their orchards to boost their productivity besides improving the quality of their fruit.
District Horticulture Officer, Srinagar who were present on the occasion also advised the orchardists to take the full advantage of this opportunity and also disseminate the knowledge adopted by them during their tour programme to the other orchardists in their localities.
