Progress on hostels for girl students reviewed

JAMMU: Principal Secretary Higher Education Department, (HED) Dr Asgar Samoon on Tuesday reviewed the progress on seven  hostels being constructed for college girls at GDC Paloura, Rajouri and Thathri in Jammu division and GDC Pulwama, Bemina, Kupawara and Kargil in Kashmir division, at a meeting of senior officers.

Dr Asgar Samoon took detailed stock of progress made in acquiring of land for buildings and approach road, release of funds and status of work.

The executing agency J&K Housing Board functionaries informed about the latest status/ construction of boundary wall at each site of the hostel.

The Principal Secretary directed the executing agency to expedite the work of the hostel buildings for which preliminary work has been completed, while asking the Principal GDC Thathri to take the possession of identified land and handover the same to the executing agency within one week. The meeting also sorted out other issues and bottlenecks after taking detailed feedback from the concerned.

The meeting was attended by Director RMSA, Director Colleges, Joint Director Planning, DGM JK Housing Board, Nodal Principal Jammu and heads of the concerned colleges.
