JAMMU: Minister of State for Education, Information, and Culture Priya Sethi on Thursday visited Rajiv Gandhi Sports Museum at Karan Nagar Extension, here.

Senior BJP leader Yudvir Sethi was also present during the visit.

The museum has been set up by Prof. Ashutosh Sharma in the memory of late Prime Minister of India who was the force behind successful conduct of IX Asian Games-Delhi 1982.

Priya Sethi was highly impressed to see the vast collections of Mementoes, Lapil Pins, Medals, Photographs of dignitaries of various countries, Prime Ministers, Presidents of India, Governors, Chief Ministers and almost all the Ministers, Blazers of different countries visited by Prof Sharma during his sports career.

Valuable and previous souvenirs, Trophies of various tournaments conducted by Prof. Sharma throughout the world tempted the minister.

Appreciating the efforts for setting up of the museum, the minister called for setting up the sports museum at a location where students and general public can visit and appreciate the collection. She described the museum as a landmark in the city of temples which needs to be showcased to all those who visit the city.

Speaking on the occasion, Yudhvir said the painstaking efforts put in by Prof Sharma to collect the artefacts is appreciable and the activities of museum needs to be taken to next level by providing a platform where people at large can come to experience the showcase of sports and related activities.
