Priya for steps to ensure holistic empowerment of women

SAMBA: In one of a unique initiative for empowerment of women, A Mahila Maha Panchayat was organised in Ghagwal Block by District Administration and Rural Development Department on Thursday as part of ‘Gram Uday se Bharat Uday Abhiyan’.
The Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture, Tourism, Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks, Priya Sethi was the Chief Guest on the occasion while MLA Hiranagar, Kuldeep Raj was the Guest of the Honour. Local Angwanwadi workers, Asha workers and women from 10 panchayats of Ghagwal block participated in the Maha Panchayat.
An intensive awareness programme was organised with departments like Social Welfare, Health, Rural development, Agriculture, Horticulture and Banks giving details of their schemes and developmental programmes. A Nukaad Natak was also staged to highlight the importance of sanitation and hygiene. A few ladies from Self Help groups shared their success stories since forming their associations under the Umeed Scheme and stressed on financial empowerment of the women.
The minister also recalled the work done by Dr B.R Ambedkar for the empowerment of women. She stressed upon importance of adequate sanitation as it adversely affects the women financially and physically. She advised them to be more aware and take best advantages of government schemes to improve their financial condition.
MLA Hiranagar also addressed the participants and urged them to avail benefit of social security schemes.
In Samba District, Mahila Sabha’s were organised in all panchayats and Village Health and Nutrition day were organised in collaboration with ICDS and Health departments. The programme was also attended by ADDC Samba Vivek Sharma, SDM Ghagwal Charanjeet Singh, DPO Samba Deepak Dubey, BDO Ghagwal Bhawani Attri and senior officials from other departments.
