Pulwama: Senior Advocate Zafar Shah said that private schools have a major responsibility to shape the society besides preparing youth to compete globally and lead in future. While addressing a gathering of school-owners of Pulwama and Shopian at Town Hall Pulwama on Sunday organized by Private School Association of J&K (PSAJK), Adv Zafar Shah said that private schools should take their ventures as a mission and not as business. Stressing on the need to meet challenges of changing times, he urged schools to equip children with knowledge in such a manner that they can face challenges of future. He also urged schools to provide quality education to children. “A child after spending his formative years in these schools under guidance of able teachers will be able to compete globally in 21st century,” said Zafar, urging school owners to strengthen their association to overcome challenges that are ahead of them while implementing New Education Policy (NEP).
Earlier, President PSAJK, G N Var, in his address explained difficulties and problems being faced by private schools. “Space for private schools is being narrowed down by concerned authorities. They are being asked for multiple certificates and NOCs when it comes to registration or up-gradation, which consumes a lot of energy and resources, leaving little room to think over investing in quality education,” he said. He asked the Government to provide a stress-free atmosphere to private schools so that they can focus on quality education which is the prime duty of a school owner. He urged school owners of both districts to prioritize teacher’s training and capacity building so that they can implement NEP 2020 in letter and spirit.
Earlier, Sheeraz Ahmed Wani, District Coordinator Pulwama welcomed the guests, which also included District Presidents of Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam.
