Private schools deputation calls on Joint DSE, submits memo

JAMMU: A deputation of Private Schools Association (PSA) led by its President, Kamal Gupta met Joint Director School Education (DSE), Jammu, Charandeep Singh and submitted a memorandum of demands. While presenting the memorandum, General Secretary of the Association briefed that all the codal formalities in accordance to SRO 123 dated 18th March 2010 for recognition / permission upto Class 8th is contempt of the dictum given by the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Although State Government has fixed new criteria in which schools functioning in the State since decades should be granted affiliation cum recognition with less formalities for a period of three to five years,” he added.
Kamal Gupta said that the majority of schools functioning up to class 8th are deprived of recognition till date on one pretext or the other whereas school functioning up to 10th and 12th standard have been granted affiliation cum recognition for five years with less formality as demanded for the recognition / permission of class 8th. He demanded recognition / permission or general order in favour of all private schools functioning up to class 8th so that such schools can submit R R for the students reading in class 8th without any harassment for the session 2017-18 as the last date circulated by SIE is 10th of June 2017. Joint Director School Education Jammu Charandeep Singh gave a patient hearing to the deputation and said that government is keen to settle down all the problems of private schools. “More over government will never encourage those schools which are running without providing healthy infrastructure and basic facilities to the students as such schools are bringing bad name to the education system,” he said. The deputation comprised of R.P Sharma, Shiv Dev Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Thomas Ooman, Raj Dev Singh, Saneh Prabha, Shashi Devi and Lal Chand.
