Days after the flood waters receded in worst hit areas of the Srinagar city and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir, the ministers, the politicians and the bureaucrats including those from the police department have resurfaced and got activated, in what they say, ‘lending helping hand and providing much needed relief to flood sufferers’. In the process, they have also started flooding media houses with ‘juicy handouts’ to see their names in next bulletin or the next day’s edition of print media.
Is it a matter of pride or shame for all those who feared in venturing out of their homes on the face of nature’s wrath to be the front runners in photo ops in the name of providing relief to the people?
