Since the inception of Model Code of Conduct in the wake of general elections to Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly till its lifting after the counting of votes, the coalition ministers have seldom attended to their duties which they are paid for. Hardly anyone of them was seen even visiting the Civil Secretariat during this period. The affairs of the government, if any, were run by the bureaucrats all these days.
Is it a matter of pride or shame for politicians, who get pro-active when it comes to enhancing their perks and packages, not to have ever given a serious thought to bring about a legislation making ‘no work, no pay’ mandatory in situations like these which unfold during the conduct of elections?
