Previous Govts responsible for promoting casteism, communalism: AVMJ

JAMMU: President, Aarakshan Virodhi Manch Jammu (AVMJ), Ram Pal Seth on Wednesday demanded that present government should end discrimination being done to general category through reservation.
While addressing a press conference, he held all previous governments were responsible for promoting casteism, communalism and regionalism.
He asked present NDA Government to work on its main election slogan ‘Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas’.
Seth said that past injustices and caste cannot be criteria for reservation. The poor of all castes be provided economic help through Special Support Measures (SSM).
Seth termed reservation a kiss of death for nation and its continuation is the lowest point of Indian political democracy.
Seth strongly supported the views of justice J.P Pardiwala of Gujarat High Court that reservation and corruption has ruined this country and has kept backward.
He also condemned recently passed ST/SC Atrocity Act by Parliament and demanded that it should be only Atrocity Act.
Yash Pal Sanson, General Secretary of Manch exalted the role of Joint Action Committee of (General Category), United Front for social Justice for General Category, J and K General Category Welfare Forum, Srinagar, J and K Unreserved Category Front, Open Category Employees Union, Dhati Brahman Sabha, J and K Brahman Samaj Sabha, Jammu for their struggle for the implementation of J and K High Court’s verdict which abrogated reservation in promotion.
Sanson blamed all governments for ignoring the needy, deserving and the economically weaker sections for their vote-bank politics.
Sanson said that all organisations/ individuals of general category are struggling for equality, justice and liberty and to end caste based reservation which is a threat to national unity. Manch has decided to frame district level Committees in a month and has started membership drive.
Raj Kumar Banathia, Vice President of the Manch, appealed to the general category people for unity and should respect the forces working against discrimination.
Banathia added that AVMJ has been pursuing an agenda to setup a casteless and classless society based on the basic principles of equality, justice and liberty. He urged upon people to rise above narrow consideration and extend their support to AVMJ for its fight against caste-based discrimination.
Madan Lal Narad, Som Nath Sharma, Ravi Sawhney, V.K Sharma, Deepak Khajuria, Raj Kumar Banathia, Madan Abrol, all prominent activists of AVMJ were present in the press conference.
