JAMMU: Expressing concern over lack of developmental activities in the old city, Congress candidate from Jammu East, Vikram Malhotra on Sunday said that a pragmatic approach was required to provide people adequate parking, pollution free environs, proper solid waste management system and bye lanes besides congestion free movement of traffic.
He asked the people to exercise their franchise in favour of a candidate and party which they feel will address these issues rather than giving priority to those involved in playing politics of polarization. Malhotra was addressing the residents and party activists during his campaign at Chowk Chabutra, Gujjar Nagar and Christian Colony.
He appealed to the voters for judging and defeating the nefarious designs of parties propagating regional and divisive agendas. He said that Congress is the only party that does not distinguish Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir through different lenses.
“Congress is the only party with the leaders of secular mindset who consider Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians as one. It is united force working towards development of the surroundings rather than using people as vote banks,” Malhotra added.
Malhotra said that development of all wards of Jammu East is his first priority. He said that among various major points in his agenda, issue of unemployment tops the priority list.
He added, if voted to power, he will take up the issue in the Assembly and make the lawmakers work on a policy towards encouraging the youth towards self employment and joining corporate houses for career rather than banking upon government sector jobs.
