Prakash Mishra takes over as DG CRPF

NEW DELHI: Prakash Mishra, a 1977 batch IPS officer of Odisha cadre took over as DG CRPF. He was accorded a ceremonial ‘Guard of Honour’ upon his arrival at CRPF Headquarters.
Mishra is a seasoned police officer, who is well versed in various facets of police and security functions. He has served as SP in CBI and as DIG (Crime Branch) and IG (Admin) of Odisha Police. Mishra also had a stint with RPF as IG (SE Railway, Kolkata). He had the distinction of serving the National Police Academy, Hyderabad as Joint Director from 2003 to 2005. He went on to serve as DG Intelligence and DG Home Guards and Fire Services, Odisha. He was posted as Additional DG and later Special DG in the high profile National Investigation Agency from the year 2010 to 2012. He was later appointed as DG of NDRF and CD. He was DGP of Odisha Police from July, 2012 to July, 2014. He moved to MHA as Special Secretary (Internal Security) in July, 2014.
He has attended various important courses, including the FBI National Academy Training from FBI Training Centre, Quantico, USA, ATAP programme on Interdicting Terrorist Organisations from Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA and Training on International Terrorism from JICA, Tokyo. He is decorated with Police Medal, President’s Police Medal and Governor’s Medal.
