Pradeep Dutta gets Sikh Achievement Award

JAMMU: Pradeep Dutta, Bureau Chief Times Now, bagged 2016 Sikh Achievement Award for covering various aspects of conflict in Jammu and Kashmir. He was honoured by Charanjit Singh Khalsa, MLC during function organised by SEWA at Abhinav Theatre on Sunday.
Veteran Punjabi writer Prof Sewa Singh was given life time achievement award. While Rangeel Singh, a known literary figure and chairman MBS College, was felicitated for contribution in the field of education.
Others who got achievement award in different categories were IGP J.P Singh and short story writer Harbhajan Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Pradeep Dutta stressed upon Sikh youth to be proud about their history and culture. He stressed that only that journalist will make mark in this competitive world if he or she chooses to be watch instead of lap dog. A bonanza of musical items, martial art display and other aspects of Sikh traditions were displayed. Bhangra item was performed by boys and girl on the stage followed by hilarious martial art item Ghatka display by youth of Jammu region.
Sufi band and instrumental music items were followed by Steel Man of India’s performance. A Ghatka performance given exclusively by the girls mesmerized the audience.
Harbhajan Singh Sagar and Prof. Sewa Singh were felicitated for their contribution in the field of Literature. Simrandep Singh, DC Jammu and J.P Singh IG were honoured for their services in the field of administration. In the category of Sports, Manpreet Kaur and Manvindr Singh (Gymnastic) and Chandeep Singh (Skating) were felicitated. Janjot Singh, upcoming Director was honoured in the Film category.
Those who got honoured in their achievements in education were Manpreet Kaur, Rasmeet Kaur, Jagpeet Kaur, Ramandeep Singh, Kanwaldeep Kaur and Harshdeep Kaur. For Pagri tying and recitation of Gurbani, Amanpreet Singh, Jaskrit Singh, Janpreet Singh, Abhijet Singh, Samarjeet Singh, Sahibjot Singh, Pawandeep Kaur, Sahibjeet Singh and Japneet Kaur were honoured.
Earlier, S. Karanjeet Singh, Chairman, ’13 Events’ welcomed the guests and briefed about the activities of the organization.
The Chief Guest, Charanjeet Singh Khalsa said that the youth is coming forward to share their responsibility to move he traditional values ahead. He said that will is required to fulfill one’s wishes and the sincere efforts support these wishes to a success in life. He said that a firm faith in the great religion makes one stronger to achieve whatsoever one wants.
The programme was conducted by Komal and Karanjeet. Vote of thanks was presented by Jaswinder Singh.
