PPEU warns disruption of power supply

JAMMU: Continuing ongoing protest, Power Development Department (PDD) employees under the banner of Provincial Power Employees Union (PPEU) threatened to disrupt power supply if the higher authorities did not accept their demands.
This stance shall leave no alternative but to intensify protesting path, said PPEU Chairman Shakti Gupta adding that the responsibility of the consequences lies only on higher authorities of PDD.
A large number of PDD employees under the leadership Shakti Gupta, President, Sanjeev Bali and General Secretary Ajaz Qazmi, on Wednesday assembled at EM and RE Division No III, Rehari and raised slogans against the higher authority of PDD.
Ajaz Qazmi warned the concerned authorities that failure of fulfillment of demands put forth in this connection shall lead to disruption of services with all cadres of field staff proceeding on protests.
Their demand include de-attachment of the officials who have been attached immediately, regularization of 600 daily wagers, regular payment to the Need Based employees and regular DPC in all cadre of categories.
Qazmi suggested that instead of blaming field staff for not plugging and hooking, higher authority should install LT Aerial Bunched Cables as envisaged in various projects.
Union requested to Development Commissioner Power and Chief Engineer EM and RE Wing to intervene in the matter to avoid undesirable circumstances.
Others who spoke were Deep Mehra, Chief Organisor, Ram Lal District President, Rajan Babu, Sunil Kochhar, Subash Sharma, Ashok Gupta, Tejinder Dutta, Pawan Kapoor, Munish Chib, Manjeet Singh, Kuldeep Kumar, Subash Bhagat and Ajay Koul.
