PPCPL: HK Stars, Murtaza Warriors enter quarterfinals

SRINAGAR: HK Stars and Murtaza Warriors made their way through to the quarterfinals of the ongoing Police Public Cricket Premier League, organised by J and K Police under its Civic Action Programme, here on Thursday.
The matches were played at Kashmir University Ground and Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium.
In first match of the day, HK Stars defeated AlHamza Super Stars by six wickets.
Batting first, AlHamza Super Stars made 124/8 in 20 overs. Mohsin Ramzan played an inning of 54 runs, Abid Nabi of HK Stars took two wickets. In reply, HK Stars chased the target for the loss of 4 in 19.2 overs. Abid Nabi made 36 runs. He was awarded with Man of the Match and most sixes in the inning awards. Paras Sharma of HK Stars achieved the award of best catch of the match. In another match, Murtaza Warriors outplayed Mirza Gladiators by 28 runs. Murtaza Warriors won the toss and made 136/9 in 20 overs. Adil Rasheed was top scorer with 35 runs. In reply, Mirza Gladiators was managed to score 108/8 in 20 overs. Umar Ahmad of Murtaza Warriors, who made 20 runs and picked four wickets in three overs, was declared as Man of the Match. Most sixes award was achieved by Umar Nabi of Murtaza Warriors and Adil Mushtaq of Mirza Gladiators was awarded with the best catch of the match award.
In third match, Anantnag trounced Ramhalls Lions by 39 runs.
Anantnag with the help of Imran Bazaz’s 69 runs set a challengeable target of 173 for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Asif Rasool also played well and added 41 runs to the total. For Ramhalls, Zahoor, Irfan and Bilal shared two wickets each.
In reply, Ramhalls managed to score 134 runs thus lost the match by 39 runs. The top scorers were Irfan (80) and Faheem (13) runs.
The last match of the day, JKP Tigers registered 24-run win over BCC Bulls.
Batting first, JKP Tigers scored 148/5 in 20 overs. Jatin and Pankaj played brilliant Knocks of 51 and 45 runs respectively. For BCC Bulls, Sakiq and Musavir shared two wickets each while Vijay took one. In reply, BCC Bulls was bowled out for 124 runs in 18.5 overs. Parveen Singh (45) and Muneer (21) runs were the main scorers.
For JKP Tigers, Rompy picked four wickets while Mehjoor took two and Rajesh Gill and Jamsheed shared one wicket each. SSP Home Guard R.K Sharma presented the awards at Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium and SSP Ganderbal presented the awards at Kashmir University.
