POWERGRID NRTS-II organises Intra-Regional Cultural Festival

LUDHIANA: Enthralling performances by the artists from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana attired in colourful dresses marked the annual Intra–Regional Cultural Festival organised by Power Grid Corporation of India, Northern Region –II. The cultural festival and traditional Handicrafts Exhibition was held at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan, Ludhiana.
Ravi P. Singh, Director Personnel, POWERGRID was the Chief Guest on the occasion who inaugurated the cultural meet and exhibition by lighting the traditional lamp in presence of large number of guests, POWERGRID employees and their families.
The cultural festival encompassing talent from four Northern States swayed the audience to the beats of colourful folk dances and songs highlighting rich composite culture of the Region.
It was a major event for the employees and their family members as amateur talent of the Region gathered to highlight rich cultural traditions.
The cultural programmes were showcased on hot burning issues like gender equality, environment, national integration, conservation of water, drug abuse and demonetisation, dowry system, etc.
All the items in the programme, successfully managed to depict their themes from Cheekhen by artists of Abdullapur Substation, Tian by young artists of Kishenpur Substation, Kichak Vadh by the team of Kurukshetra, Samay Chakr–Jaise Ko Taisey by Kaithal Substation, Roshini by the artists of Kartarpur Substation, Halat Aaj De by Nalagarh Substation, Punjab Bolda by Patiala substation, Chidiyan Da Chamba by Panchkula Substation, Mitti De Rishte by the artists of Moga Substation, Bhavish Ki Aur by Wagoora Substation, Himachal Jhankar by artists of Hamirpur and Ek Bharat-Shresht Bharat by the troupe of Regional Office Jammu.
Besides a traditional Handicrafts Exhibition comprising crafts, arts and fine arts, was displayed which had been made by the employees of POWERGRID and their families.
Earlier, on the arrival at programme venue, the Chief Guest was welcomed by Anil Jain, Executive Director Northern Region-II and other senior officers of the Corporation.
At the end of function winners as well as participants of cultural function were presented trophies and mementos by the Chief Guest. In Handicrafts Exhibition the participants whose items were selected as the first, second and third were also given prizes by the Chief Guest. Team from Moga, Wagoora, Jammu and Kartarpur bagged first, second , third and consolation prize respectively.
Anil Jain, Executive Director NRTS-II delivered the welcome address whereas R. Narayan Chief Manager (HR), NRTS-II presented the vote of thanks.
