AKHNOOR: Senior Vice President JKPCC and former Minister Sham Lal Sharma on Tuesday described the BJP as power hungry, saying that there is nothing common between the PDP and BJP.
Addressing a meeting of Block Congress Committee Akhnoor, Sham described the present alliance as a combination of opportunist and power-hungry forces, who exploited the sentiments of the people.
He stated that the BJP exploited the sentiments of people of Jammu by various slogans including abrogation of Article 370, rights to PoK and West Pakistan refugees, delimitation of constituencies and plots to the border residents, besides promisinga Chief Minister from the region. Sham said the BJP surrendered its ideology and other promises to share power and had deceived the electorate.
Sham said, “BJP need to understand that people’s expectations should not disrespected and it is the responsibility of BJP to come forward and bail out suffering populace of Jammu and Kashmir from this political standoff”, he added
He also highlighted the severe shortage of ration in the State and reduction in ration quota. He accused the previous BJP-PDP government for present crisis regarding ration shortage.
“The administration must undertake immediate measures in this regard to ensure adequate supply of ration all over the State, as per prescribed scale besides making available the shortfall quota of the previous months”, he demanded.
Sham said that BJP leaders have backstabbed people of Akhnoor on SRO 462. He termed it as forced acquisition.
“This land acquisition is not at all ethical and is the result of a ‘Game Plan’ of BJP where not only BJP MLAs and MPs but their cabinet ministers are equally responsible in creating this “Do or Die” situation for the people of Akhnoor”, he added.
“The land in question belongs to poor families and their livelihood depends on the produce of land. The people of Akhnoor have faced the brunt of Indo-Pak wars thus their present economic condition is very bad and such forced acquisition will increase their worries manifold”, he stressed.
