Poster-making competition organised at JU

JAMMU: As part of series of events organised to observe Swachhta Pakhwara, the National Service Scheme, Campus Units, University of Jammu, in collaboration with Rinchen bZangpo Art Gallery, University of Jammu organised an inter-departmental /inter-collegiate poster making competition in the Rinchen bZangpo Art Gallery, University of Jammu on Tuesday.
Prof. Anita Billawaria, Dean Social Sciences inaugurated the function.
Prof. Jasbir Singh, Chairman, NSS Campus Units, in his address, stressed on the importance of such events to generate awareness among the students community and catch up with the ideas coming out of the minds of young students.
“This can help us to take forward the mission of Swachh Bharat”, added Prof. Jasbir. There will be series of awareness campaigns and cleanliness drives to be undertaken by the National Service Scheme in the University in the coming days, he added.
Dr. Anju Thappa, Programme Officer, NSS explained the rules of the competition. There were 42 participants from different departments, colleges and higher secondary schools.
Bharti Heer from the Law School won first Prize; Parshottma Sharma from the Law School won second prize, Bavneet Kour from Department of Education won third prize, Kimi Jamwal from Department of Library Sciences won merit of appreciation; Manpreet Kour from Department of Education won merit of appreciation. Koshal Kumar and Sahil Kumar from Government Higher Secondary School, Budhi, Kathua bagged Special Prizes of appreciation.
Dr. Meghna Dhar, Programme Officer, NSS coordinated the event.
Prof. Anita Billawaria, Deepak Sharma and Dr. Gurjeet Kour were adjudicators in the event. The senior NSS volunteers Rahul and Shahnawaz and others were present on the occasion.
