JAMMU: Poonchi Brahman Maha Sabha (PBMS) today organized a function to felicitate meritorious students of the community who secured 85% or above marks in 10th and 12th standard this year at Durga Mandhir complex Indira Nagar, Miran Sahib.
Former MLA and Minister Dr. Manhohar Lal Sharma and former MLC Ravinder Sharma were the Chief Guests while Hem Raj Khajuria a prominent member of the society, former president PBM Capt Khema Nand, sitting Judge Sudir Khajuria and his Collector wife were the special invitees.
Over 50 meritorious students of the community were awarded with a certificate, memento and knowledgeable book by the Chief Guests.
Ravinder and Dr Manohar appreciated the efforts of the Sabha for encouraging budding students of the community and stressed upon the participants to strengthen hands of the organiser of the Sabha for larger interest of the community as a whole to meet the future challenges and betterment of the society.
They extended their full support to the Sabha and also appealed to all members of the community irrespective of their affiliation with any political party or any other sphere of life to work for the betterment of the society.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Dr. Ved Prakash Shastri, President of the PBMS, Retd ZEO, Khem Raj Khajuria, Retd SSP Makhan Lal Sharma, Hem Raj Khajuria, Raj Kumar, Susheel Sudan, Om Prakash. Pt Ashok Khajuria and Pritam Sharma. Large number of students, parents and hundreds of people especially woman folk from adjoining localities participated in the function. A community Langar was also organized for the participants.
